Here we throw again

We just can't seem to keep Isaiah well for longer than a month! Starting last Tuesday, Isaiah came home from daycare because he had thrown up. We kept him home on Wednesday. He seemed better and was in good spirits. At supper we were at Lanny and Beth's and he threw up on his supper tray. We thought maybe it was a fluke, so we sent him to daycare on Thursday. However, Thursday morning I started to not feel well and went home early from school. When I went to pick Isaiah up from Lynette's in the afternoon, she informed me that he had thrown up again on the way home from school and had had diarrhea. So once again he stayed home on Friday. It was good for me to stay home and continue to recouperate, but I was sad to miss the 100th day of school.

I took Isaiah to the doctor and he had lost almost 5% of his body weight. The doctor said it was a gastrointestinal infection and to feed him in small amounts and try to get him to drink diluted gatorade, which i bought on the way home. Isaiah, of course, wouldn't drink it like he wouldn't drink the pedialyte. We ended up calling the doctor that night and she said to try jello, juice, and applesauce. The only thing Isaiah would try was the applesauce, so we watered it down with juice. But then he ended up throwing that up before he went to bed. We called the doctor back, again, and she said to bring him in again. By morning he had nursed twice and had kept that down and had gained back a few ounces. She said as long as he was staying hydrated that it would pass.

He threw up one last time Saturday night and then we thought we were on the road to recovery as he didn't throw up on Sunday at all. We sent him back to daycare today and went on our way to work thinking all was well. At 11:00 I got a call from Lynette, now, not only did he throw up again, but he now had a fever!!! AAAAAAAWWWW!!!! I called the doctor and they said the same thing as Saturday, just make sure he's hydrated. I didn't know how badly I could feel for another person until I became a mom! My heart just aches for him and I just pray that this passes soon!

Catchy title!
You now know the helpless feeling of motherhood when your child is hurting and you can't fix it. And you're right, it makes your heart ache for sure. It makes grandma's heart ache, too because she can't help her baby or her baby's baby...double heart ache.

Poor little guy! we will be praying for him and you both. I know that helpless feeling- It hurts so much to see your precious baby hurting like that. Have you tried those Pedialyte Strips that you stick to his tounge- they have them at Walgreens. They might help since her refuses everything else.
